Understand the purpose of the controlling a stage process

The purpose is for the project manager to assign work to be done, monitor such work, deal with issues, report progress to the project board, and take corrective actions to ensure the stage remains within tolerance

Know the objectives of the controlling a stage process

These are to focus attention on the delivery of the stages products to avoid scope creep and deliver the correct level of quality in the agreed time and cost tolerances, key issues and risk under control, and keep the business case under review

The familiar with the eight activities of the controlling a stage process and know which role has responsibilities within each activity

The project manager is responsible for all the eight activities in the controlling a stage process

There are four categories of activities:

  • Managing the work of the teams using the authorize work packages
  • Review work package status and receive completed work packages activities
  • Managing risks and issues using the capture and examine issues and risks

These are to ensure that the teams work is authorized and agreed to, that the teams understand what is to be produced and what is the expected effort, cost, and timescales, products are delivered to expectations and within tolerances, and accurate progress information is provided to the project manager

Understand the context of the managing product delivery process

The teams and team managers use the managing product delivery process to deliver work packages during a delivery stage

It is initiated by the project manager during the authorize a work package activity in the controlling a stage process

Understand the three activities of the managing product delivery process and which role and has responsibilities within each activity

The team manager and the teams are responsible for all three activities in the managing product delivery process

The work is accepted from the project manager in accept a work package, created and delivered in execute a work package, and handed back to the project manager in deliver a work package

Know the purpose of the managing a stage boundary process

This is for the team manager to provide sufficient information for the project board to decide whether to authorize the project to move on to its next stage

These are to ensure the project board that all the stage’s products have been approved, prepare the stage plan for the next stage, review, and is necessary, update the project initiation documentation (the business case), the project plan, the project management team, and the overall risk situation, and request or to rise Asian to start the next stage

The purpose of the highlight report is to provide the project board and other relevant stakeholders with regular updates on the progress of the stage

Know that the project manager creates the highlight report in the controlling a stage process and the project board reviews the highlight report in the directing a project process

Understand the purpose and composition of the checkpoint report, know in which process it is developed, used, and reviewed, and know which roles are responsible for this

The purpose of the checkpoint report is to provide the project manager with regular updates on the progress of the work package

The team manager and the teams create the checkpoint report in the managing product delivery process and the project manager reviews the checkpoint report in the controlling a stage process

Understand the purpose and composition of the end stage report, known in which process is it is developed, used, and reviewed, and snow which roles are responsible for this

The purpose of the end stage report is to provide the project board with a report on the success or failure of a stage
The project manager creates the end stage report in the managing a stage boundary process, and the project board reviews the end stage report in the directing a project process
