PRINCE2 7 Foundation and Practitioner exams tips – Part 1
This article is not a summary of the PRINCE2 method, but rather a swift checklist of the vital practical aspects just before you take your exams. As my title says, I will give you advice for both the Foundation and Practitioner exams.
PRINCE2 7 Confidence
For most folks, it is rare for anyone to fail the PRINCE2 Foundation exam if they have prepared thoroughly. When considering the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam, most people manage to pass provided you have prepared properly.
I strongly suggest that you invest personally in my PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner Masterclass – that way I can guarantee you a pass! So, try not to go into the exam room fearing the worst and put yourself under more pressure than you need to. This extra pressure can cause poorer performance and this in turn will lead to panic.
An example here that happens regularly is that you need to read the question two or three times rather than just once because you are busy worrying rather than concentrating.
Read and answer the question
This is important, and your memories of school days may remind you of the many times that you gave a correct answer to a different question than the one being asked. This is particularly true in the PRINCE2 Foundation exam where the total meaning of the question can hang on a single word or phrase.
It is also unfortunate that many of the questions set by the examiners are poorly phrased and lead to ambiguity. If you are under time pressure, it is important to read every word – an example here is whether the question says a product is “created” or “updated”.
If you have several possible answer options and need to think about one or two, it is very easy to lose track of the exact wording of the question and start answering something else. This is particularly true in the PRINCE2 7 Practitioner exam when you feel the need to refer to the Official Manual, and during that short time, you start to answer a different question to the one being asked.
Another important point is reading the question, and this is particularly true within the PRINCE2 7 Foundation exam – be very careful of negatives being used in the question. An example here is “Which one of these is NOT …” and while you are choosing the right answer from the options, it is easy for you to forget the “NOT” – and get the answer wrong in the process.
Travel time management
A brief but important point here, please do some risk management and plan your journey properly. Make sure you plan to arrive in good time and do not add travel panic to the pressure of the exam. I would far rather avoid early and given the time to get my head together, grab a coffee and choose the best seat!
