It all started innocently enough as an initiative to develop a standard Best Practice ‘framework’ for projects in any industry. The APM Group was set up to manage and run the Foundation and Practitioner exams, and to both regulate and award training companies by giving them the prestigious ‘Accredited Training Company’ (ATO) status.
In no time flat, PRINCE2 courses were being offered all over the UK and were selling more than Viagra!
But it didn’t stop there, the Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand were early adopters of the Method, and when the African and Indian Governments adopted the PRINCE2 Method, the flood gates *really* opened…and now includes Belgium, Germany, Spain, South Africa, and the United States.
PRINCE2 has become the de facto process-based methodology for effective and efficient project management and project managers alike!
Used extensively by the UK Government, PRINCE2 is also widely recognized and used in the private sector, both in the UK and internationally.
Here’s the thing. Since PRINCE2 is mandated by all government departments, AND that outsourcing to third parties have PRINCE2 as a requirement in their contracts, this has had a ‘trickle-down’ effect in terms of recruitment.
If YOUR CV does not mention PRINCE2 expertise, then you are at a disadvantage.
And get this. Even if you only have Foundation level – or *just* profess a working knowledge of the PRINCE2 Method – this ALONE will normally get you an interview ahead of those already in the application queue – I know, because I’ve done it myself, and seen it work for countless of my students!
Having PRINCE2 in your skill-set will get you recognized in the project management community and give you enhanced credibility, and this is particularly the case if you are moving into project management or only hold a junior position.
In short, PRINCE2 will help individuals seeking leading project management skills and greater employment prospects.
The powerful and influencial Gartner Group has recently conducted research and found that, “over the next 3 years project management will become one of the top five major strategic issues that most managers will have to address to be successful,” so YOUR career and secure employment opportunities have never looked better!
Probably the best reason why you should get either PRINCE2 Qualified, or at least PRINCE2 Proficient (I’ll show you how to do that below), is that project management experience is becoming less important than a solid grounding in PRINCE2…
Here are your path choices – take action on at least one of them right now, and 2013 will become your starlight year and the current economy will have virtually no effect on you and your family:
1. Find a local/convenient PRINCE2 ATO and get yourself booked on a (typical) 5 day course. This is expensive (around £1000) so you will want to ensure that you pass both the Foundation and Practitioner exams at your first attempt – so get your hands on my APM Group Licensed (the folks who set and mark both of your exams!) PRINCE2 Masterclass, and turn up at the training event already in the top 1% of your class.
2. Invest in my Licensed PRINCE2 Primer and study it in your spare time (you get hundreds of sample exam questions and answers – all audited by the APM Group). Then apply for a public exam HERE. There are several sites in the UK, or you can use your British Council in your country to find where the PRINCE2 public exam venues are held). Oh yes, and get yourself a copy of the official PRINCE2 Manual (because you are allowed to bring it into the Practitioner exam as a reference source).This will be a far cheaper option.
3. This will surprise you. Just invest in my PRINCE2 Primer alone, and purchase the PRINCE2 Manual if you wish. Watch all my videos (25), carry out all the exercises, and do ALL the Foundation and Practitioner sample exams I have included. Update your CV/Resume, and apply for jobs and join recruitment Agencies – then wait for the project management world to beat a path to your door and invite you for job interviews! Be honest and tell them that you have lots of PRINCE2 experience, but could not afford to take the exams…works every time…
