Passing Your PRINCE2 7 Exams at First Try – Part 3
PRINCE2 Exams – Special requirements
PRINCE2 has worked hard to make the exams fair, and time allowances are available to those with special difficulties and sometimes other special provisions is available such as those with eyesight difficulties.
I once invigilated the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam where a candidate had severe physical pain when holding a pen or pencil. Arrangements were made for her to use a keyboard which was her preference, along with extra time for comfort breaks and administration of mild painkillers for her joints and tendons in her hands.
Depending on your exact language abilities and where you are taking the exam, you may be allowed extra time. This extra time is to allow for you to translate each English question into your native language.
To check, however, whether or not the PRINCE2 exams are available in your first language, as you can apply for such a paper to be delivered to the exam centre.
You would be surprised by the number of people who are dyslexic, indeed I suffer slightly from it as does my daughter. But don’t worry, the whole exam process is well set up to meet your needs by providing extra time allowance, taking the exam in an adjacent room, and having someone read the paper out to you. The extra time is typically around 30 minutes for the practitioner exam.
However, you will need to provide evidence of your dyslexia such as a medical statement, or a report from an authorized dyslexia assessment.
As I have already mentioned, arrangements can be made for special physical needs, then again you will need to bring proof from a suitable medical authority. You can even apply for an A3-sized question paper because of eyesight limitations, or as above, if you have some form of physical disability.
If you have a problem on the day of your exam such as feeling ill or a severe headache, you must tell the exam invigilator before the start of the exam. You will be given two choices: either cancel and arrange to sit the exam when you are feeling better, or to try anyway. The invigilator can note down on the exam form that you were unwell so the issue or result is borderline your circumstances may be taken into account.
Beware. The important thing is that you must report any problems up front before the exam is started. It will not be accepted if after sitting and having a bad exam only to decide at the end that you didn’t feel too well and ask for this to be taken into consideration as it will be too late.

However, their effectiveness may differ based on their experience in project management, the complexity of the project, and the level of support they receive in their work environment.
