Way back in 1986 two smart Japanese thought leaders stated

This mind-melting approach gave birth to Scrum.
Fast-forward three decades, and Scrum is now being blended with PRINCE2. Trouble is, less than 1% of managers and specialist teams know how to do it. Scrum is a lightweight, simple to understand, agile process framework, with an emphasis on management practices such as the role of scrum master.
Considering the sequential product development of requirements, design, create, and test, scrum turns that on its head, and rather than doing all of one thing at a time, scrum teams do a little of everything all the time.
