The Starting Up a Project process checks that we have a viable and worthwhile project. The Initiating a Project process establishes solid foundations for the project so that the enabling organization understands the work to be done to deliver the project’s products:
Learn the Directing a Project process enabling the Project Board to be accountable for the project’s success by making key decisions and exercising overall control. The Controlling a Stage process is to assign work to be done, monitor such work, deal with issues, report progress to the Project Board. The Managing Product Delivery process places formal requirements on accepting, executing and delivering project work.

The Business Case sets out WHY the project is needed and is used to judge whether the project is viable, desirable and achievable. The Organization Theme purpose is to define and establish the project’s structure of accountability and responsibilities.

The purpose of the Progress Theme is to establish mechanisms to monitor and compare actual achievements against planned objectives so that a forecast can be made for project objectives and continued viability while controlling any unacceptable deviations. Progress is the measure of the achievement of the objectives of a plan, and it can be measured at Work Package, Stage or Project level.
