Tagadelic for drupal gives youa neat keyword cloud for your website
Those KEYWORD CLOUDS that you see on some websites are cool aren't they!?!
They're also very simple to use in Drupal... but as I discovered... not so simple to setup. Or at least to find out how to setup anyway.
So, for my failing memory and for anyone else out there that this may assist - here are some simple instructions to setup TAGADELIC CLOUDS.
To setup tagadelic nodeword cloud for drupal websites add these 3 modules
Go and download the following modules and FTP them into ../sites/all/modules on your website...
The views module provides a flexible method for Drupal site designers to control how lists of content (nodes) are presented. Traditionally, Drupal has hard-coded most of this, particularly in how taxonomy and tracker lists are formatted.
This tool is essentially a smart query builder that, given enough information, can build the proper query, execute it, and display the results. It has four modes, plus a special mode, and provides an impressive amount of functionality from these modes.
You need Views if:
- You like the default front page view, but you find you want to sort it differently.
- You like the default taxonomy/term view, but you find you want to sort it differently; for example, alphabetically.
- You use /tracker, but you want to restrict it to posts of a certain type.
- You like the idea of the 'article' module, but it doesn't display articles the way you like.
- You want a way to display a block with the 5 most recent posts of some particular type.
- You want to provide 'unread forum posts'.
- You want a monthly archive similar to the typical Movable Type/Wordpress archives that displays a link to the in the form of "Month, YYYY (X)" where X is the number of posts that month, and displays them in a block. The links lead to a simple list of posts for that month.
Views can do a lot more than that, but those are some of the obvious uses of Views.
The tagadelic module generates a page with weighted tags, indicating how many times a category or tag has been used to categorize content on the site. The cool thing is that by merely altering font sizes, these lists suddenly gain a dimension: the more often a tag is used, the larger its font size. Tagadelic offers various ways to add terms and vocabularies in one tag cloud. By using the urls, you can create your own clouds pages. It also offers a sideblock for each taxonomy tree. Tagadelic offers dynamic URLs.
Implements a Views plugin that adds a "View Type" to the Views page and block named "Tagadelic" (in addition to "Teaser", "Full Page", etc...). When selected, the nodes returned by the view are themed as a "Tagadelic" block in the same vein as the tagadelic module. At least one vocabulary field should be added to the Field List.
So to turn the darn thing on is actually simple once you get your head around it....
- FTP the modules upto your ../sites/all/modules folder
- Turn on the modules by clicking administer then modules on the menu
- Now create a vacabulary category for your tag cloud (click administer then categories) You can call it anything you like. For your first one call it TAG CLOUD, as its simple to recognise. Select the node types on this category that you wish it to be associated with for example, pages, stories, blogs... etc. Selected Freetagging to start off with then you can enter comma seperted words to start your cloud as you edit or create articles.
- Thats it. You now need to add words to the tagadelic cloud: When you edit a page, you will now see a line above the BODY section called TAG CLOUD - any comma separated keywords entered here will be in your tag cloud.
- Display the tag cloud on the screen by using administer/sitebuilding/blocks and position the TAG CLOUD block wherever you like
That's it.... simple
