Linking my Drupal website with Facebook - Fail :(
Aaaaaaargh!
So, after a few hours of playing around with the Drupal for Facebook module, I'm scratching my head and groaning in despair. I've followed the installation instructions to the letter, downloaded facebook API's and code from the dot com website. I've enabled modules, created facebook applications, tweaked permissions and configured a huge combination of module settings. Still no joy :(
Most unsatisfying.
As with most things in this realm, the connection configuration is not obvious and quote technical so I presume I am doing something stupid. :/
Anyway, as this entire concept is something I am testing for the esteemed Uncle Dave (of http://www.davelitten.com fame) it's time to look at the competition. It seems to me that the FacebookConnect module is the alternate choice. It looks simpler, and hopefully will allow my befuddled brain to figure it out. Fingers Crossed.
The documentation says:
This module allows users to login on a Drupal website through the Facebook Connect API – using their Facebook login and password.
The module also brings other extra features: Users can see which of their Facebook friends already have an account on the Drupal website Users can publish a customizable message on their Facebook feed announcing that they have created an account on the Drupal website Users can invite their Facebook friends to create an account on the Drupal website
