firefox chrome registration error with windows vista

After upgrading to Firefox version I had a problem with a very annoying series of error messages saying "Chrome Registration Failed"
Some of the old add-ons are also not working so I put this down to the different versions I have installed in the past (version 2 then V3 Beta followed by the first Release Candidate and now the official V3).
Fortunately the solution is very simple - close Firefox and then restart as administrator.
Right click on the Firefox icon on your desktop.
Select “run as administrator” and clickety click... Firefox should open lovely with no problems.
Once you've done this once, I would recommend reverting the shortcut icon back to default since leaving it on administrator status probably isn't the most secure method of the browser running on the internet.
